Lung cancer remains one of the most significant health challenges
“Expo 2020 will create living experiences and learning opportunities,” Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said on Tuesday.
He was speaking while welcoming members of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to Zayed University’s newest and largest campus in Abu Dhabi — Khalifa City campus.
“Educational institutions in the UAE will collaborate with Dubai Expo 2020, dealing with issues such as environmental sustainability, technology and work opportunity,” he added.
During its tour, the BIE delegation learnt how much importance the UAE government is placing on education, which is coupled with the latest technological learning facilities.
According to Shaikh Nahyan, 80 per cent of Emirati boys and 20 per cent of Emirati girls apply for federal universities in their final undergraduate year.
“In 2020, a highly energetic and educated Emirati population will welcome the rest of the world to Dubai Expo,” he said.
With over 200 other nationalities living in the UAE, the future generation of the UAE will not only be educationally and technologically sound, but able to welcome and accommodate people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
“I have no doubt that by 2020, our students will distinguish themselves in fields such as media or health services,” he added.
Before visiting Zayed University, the BIE Enquiry Mission visited the Roads and Transport Authority headquarters, Dubai Airports and Emirates headquarters in Dubai, highlighting the UAE’s strength in infrastructure that would allow easy access for the 25 million expected visitors, of whom 70 per cent would come from outside the host nation for the first time in the history of World Expo.
