Sky Net and Khaleej Times hockey trophies

The second Sky Net Challenge hockey trophy will be held from October 14 October to October 21 at the Institute of Applied Technology. The timings will be from 2pm to 7pm.

Ahmad Nabih, Regional Director, Sky Net Worldwide Express services said: “We encourage sportsmen and sports events. Our company is not only sponsoring football, motor racing, tennis. Zafran Khan, our senior VP and also of the Arabian Field Hockey Club (AFHC) likes to give special sponsorship to field hockey and this will be our second sponsored event. Peter Pereira who had played hockey in India is also supporting this event.”

Zafran said the event is being organised in two categories — the Khaleej Times trophy which will see Axiom, United Emirates, United Thalessary, Dubai Republican and True Pack Hockey Club compete while the other for the Sky Net trophy, will see AFHC, Dubai Hockey Club, Dubal Hockey Club, Beatrice & Loose Cannon taking part.


According to the Rameez Rufi, Chairman, AFHC, there will be special awards beside the winners and runners-up trophies, for the Best Goalkeeper, Best Player of the Tournament, Top Goalscorer and the Best Disciplined Team.

The duration of the match will be 20 minutes one way while the final will be played over 30 minutes split into two halves.


Martin Hunt, Abid Naqi, Tauqeer Hussain, Safdar Cheema, Arshad Nazir, Shahnawaz and Gordon De Silva are the event officials for the technical and supervisory aspects.

The event is sponsored by Sky net worldwide and is further backed by by Rufi Real Estate, Battery Energy drink, Team work advertising and Khaleej Times.
