Shaikh Saeed garners 70 shots in qualifiers

Top US shooter and holder of the 2008 Beijing Olympics gold medal Vincent Hancock is leading the way in the first round of the men’s skeet qualifying at the Royal Artillery Barracks here on Monday. The competition resumes at 4am at the same venue on Thursday with the final set 9am.

The American Sergeant set a score of 74 out of 75 after three rounds of qualification to take first place, followed by Stefan Nelson from Sweden who tied with Qatar’s Nasser Al Attiya and Steven of Denmark with 72 shots each. The UAE representative Shaikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum finished 12th with 70 shots.

After an awkward start in the first round in which Shaikh Saeed hit 21 targets, he rallied to score 24 shots in the second and a perfect 25 out of 25 in the third.
