First look: Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

Seriously, that 5.5-inch 4K UHD screen is quite something. It's almost like carrying a TV around all the time!

I was at the recently-concluded IFA Berlin 2015 and was able to experience, first-hand, one of the world's most talked-about gizmos - the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. After all, it's the world's first smartphone with a 4K display.
The Xperia Z5 line comes in three options: the garden-variety Z5, the smaller Z5 Compact and the obviously high-end, large Z5 Premium. Of course, the last one got the most attention. But seriously, that 5.5-inch 4K UHD screen is quite something. It's almost like carrying a TV around all the time!
Again, it's IP68-certified (meaning it's dust-and-water-resistant). It also has a 1.9GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 430 GPU. Throw in 32GB of internal storage and up to 200GB of microSD capacity and you may just have the perfect smartphone.
Make no mistake: the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is a serious challenger to the titans of the smartphone arena. And here's even more good news: for some reason, Sony has already cut the price of the Xperia Z5 line - even before releasing it.
