Playing their opener on Monday, UAE Precor were up against formidable Swedish opponents, Melleruds IF. It was a tough game as UAE Precor were reduced down to 10 men in the last 10 minutes. However, they bounced back in style scoring twice to script a 2-1 victory.

On Tuesday, UAE Precor handed a 4-0 drubbing to Germany’s TSV Buchholz 08.

The next day, UAE Precor gave 2010 Gothia Cup finalist Floro SK a run for their money but lost 0-2. However, regardless of the results of this match, the team entered the knock-out round with 64 other teams.

Next day when their opponents, Liria KF from Kosovo, Serbia, did not turn up to the match, UAE Precor claimed a 3-0 victory by default, entering the knock-out 32 round.

Coach Derek Burke is happy with the team’s progress. “The boys are in top form and their morale is running high. One of our greatest strengths is our team spirit – the players have always played aggressively as a unit. We welcome the challenges that lie ahead in this tournament and we know that we are more than up to it,” Burke said.

UAE Precor take on Ecuador’s Academia Alfaro Moreno with the winner making it to the knock-out 16 round.

UAE Precor is the only under-16 team representing the UAE. Around 50,000 fans and 800 teams from 70 different countries attended the opening ceremony at the Ullevi stadium, the biggest stadium in Scandinavia.
