Swiss Club Servette FC Pleased After Winter Training Camp

ABU DHABI — After Italian clubs AC Milan, Inter Milan and German club Bayern Munich, in the recent past, the lovely UAE weather drew another football club. Seventeen-time Swiss League champions Servette FC held their winter training camp in the UAE from January 15 to 27.

The 12-day camp saw the seven-time Swiss Cup winners play a series of friendly games against local international clubs. Servette FC played four friendly games, three against UAE clubs — Al Sharjah, Al Nasr and Al Jazira. Their completed the camp with a friendly game against Uzbekistan side Lokomotiv Tashqant.

Servette FC and Al Sharjah were involved in a goalless draw, in the friendly played in Al Ain. They defeated Dubai-based Al Nasr 2-1 in Dubai, with Julien Esteban scoring both the goals for Servette FC.

Servette FC, which has played in the Switzerland Challenge League, the second highest tier in Swiss football, went down fighting 0-2 to UAE Pro-League table toppers Al Jazira at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Servette FC rounded off their winter training camp with a 3-1 win over Uzbek side Lokomotiv Tashqant in the game played in Dubai.

During their stay, Servette FC also had an open camp day and also one day for children with special needs.

Servette FC, based in Geneva, have participated six times in the European Cup for the Champions League and 14 times in the UEFA Cup.

“This 12-day camp brought the team to the best physical condition and would be a massive positive impact on the team’s future performance for the games of the current season,” Majid Pishyar, the President of the club said.
