Football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Fifa president Gianni Infantino have attended the Dubai International Sports Conference on Sunday.
Juventus star Ronaldo and Lewandowski, the prolific Bayern Munich striker, will be also be vying for the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards later in the evening.
A Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative, this year’s Dubai International Sports Conference has taken place at Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa, under the theme ‘Football at the Top’.
Organised under the patronage of Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the Conference has been bringing football’s top stakeholders together since 2006 for extensive discussions on ways to develop and enrich the sport at the domestic, regional and international level.
Infantino has been a regular guest at the Dubai International Sports Conference and has featured in six previous editions since his first appearance in 2011, when he addressed the Conference as Secretary General of the Union of European Football Associations (Uefa).
Meanwhile, Ronaldo is the overwhelming favourite to win the Player of the Century trophy in Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, having got the lion’s share of the fans’ votes.
Lewandowski is the favourite to win the Player of the Year trophy, having scored 55 goals for Bayern Munich last season.
