Bolton centre back David Wheater was shown a straight red card in the 20th minute for a challenge on Diniyar Bilyaletdinov at Reebok Stadium.

It was Bilyaletdinov who provided the cross for a sliding Fellaini to prod the ball into the net in the 49th minute.

Vellios ensured Everton backed up its 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last week with another victory by scoring in the 78th after coming on as a substitute.

Everton rose to eighth in the standings while 18th-place Bolton stayed in the relegation zone.
