In the western region Al Ain received a painful defeat at the hands of Al Dhafra. Jose Sand drew first blood for Al Ain in the 8th minute of the first half and Hamad Abdul Rahman levelled the result two minutes later. Al-Dhafra Nigerian pro Abbas Moya netted the winner in the last minute to spoil Al Ain’s campaign to stay in hunt for the title with five rounds remaining.

In Bani Yas, Ibrahim Diaky’s late equaliser kept Al Jazira’s hopes alive in the chase for the title with 40 points on goals difference from front runners Al Wahda.

Amer Abdul Rahman put the home team ahead in the 80th minute and Ibrahim Diaky fired home the equaliser four minutes into injury time from a controversial penalty kick.

Al Wahda will take on Al Wasl at home on Saturday and they have every chance to extend their lead over the standings table.
