Former Tottenham boss Redknapp, 65, has most frequently been linked to the vacant position at Ewood Park and was said to be meeting officials at the second-tier Championship side, the reports said.

Argentina legend Maradona, though, has also been evoked as a possible successor to Kean, after his departure from United Arab Emirates club Al Wasl.

Indian-owned Blackburn’s recruitment chief Shebby Singh is said to favour 52-year-old Maradona’s appointment while executive director Derek Shaw is said to prefer Redknapp.
