Al Jazira’s title chances took a beating on Thursday when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Sharjah. Al Jazira’s five draws and two on the trot against Bani Yas and now Al Sharjah severely dented their chances of a first League crown. Al Jazira are locked in a battle with League leaders Al Wahda.

With this win Al Wahda pulled away in the League table and now lead with 46 points followed by Al Jazira on 41. Al Ain are third with 35 points and the remaining four games and the results of the other games will be crucial for Al Jazira if they hope to beat arch-rivals Al Wahda to the crown.

Promoted Emirates received a painful 2-3 home defeat at the hands of Al Dhafra in the 18th round of the UF-League at Ras Al Khaimah Stadium.

The Emirates who have qualified to the final of the President Cup failed to improve their position in the League’s table and face a real threat of relegation to the First Division League.

Abbas Moya opened the scoring in the 24th minute to put Al-Dhafra ahead before Mohammed Salem doubled the score-line few in the 45th minute. Substitute Mubarak Saad reduced the deficit to 1-2 in the 55th minute, but Ali Saeed made it 3-1 less than a minute thereafter. Karim Kerkar added the second goal for the home team in the 73rd minute. Al Dhafra raised their tally to 23 points and advanced to seventh position as the Emirates are second last with 11 points.
