“We need to win to stay in hunt for the title. Our last weekend defeat at the hands of city rivals Al Wahda cost us the lead and a second defeat would have cost us dearer,” Juma said in a post-match conversation.

“Before the start of the game we heard the good news that Al Shabab held Al Wahda and the players were full of determination to claim full points and settle on the heels of the leaders. We are now only one point behind the pace and this is something great. It’s a dream title and we need to work for it,” he added.

Meanwhile, Al Ain hopes to chase front runners received a dent, but they are still in with a chance to fight back.

“We played a big game but failed to score,” said Al Ain official Sultan Rashid. “The race for the crown is not over yet and all the three clubs have equal fortunes,” he added.
