Dubai-based startup Makemymeal.ae's Ramadan campaign has aimed to deliver one million free meals to the needy in the UAE, said Deepak Jain, CEO, Makemymeal.ae.
"We are working with the UAE Red Crescent, UAE Food bank on this initiative. We encourage each and every one to participate in this initiative. One can donate as little as Dh70 and feed 5 people in need. Dh1 per meal is shared with the UAE Red Crescent and we distribute with the help of UAE Food Bank. One can also volunteer along with donation. We are working with corporates like Legrand, Elexctrolux, Transworld Group and many more," said Jain.
Dubai-based makemymeal was launched in 2016 with one single catering company  and currently boasts of 200+ restaurant and catering partners. The venture has its presence in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman with 10,000 plus subscribers. The venture plans to tap series B funding in 2020 which will be used for market expansion.
"We started with only web and now have our app on Android as well as on iOS platform. We started with Indian cuisine and have added Pakistani and Chinese, with Arabic cuisine to follow as well," added Jain.
Makemymeal claims to be first and only online tiffin service of the UAE which offers average lunch at Dh350 per month including delivery and packaging.
Shradha Bajaj, business development manager, makemymeal, said: "It's first of its kind and a unique service that offers a complete lunch solution to the end users encouraging healthy and responsible eating with cost effective meal plans available on the platform from a variety of restaurants. It also works wonderfully for the restaurants, as the platform is developed to generate volume in their business. I firmly believe this concept has immense scope for growth in the coming years as we are moving in the right direction and it's only a matter of time to achieve what we have envisioned at Make My Meal."
