We're used to the regional fashion community coming together in the first quarter of the year for Fashion Forward Dubai. Unfortunately this shall not be the case in 2020.
Given the series of couture shows and talks was set to take place in d3, Dubai Design District from April 2-4, organisers felt the dates fell too close to the city-wide enforced large gathering shutdown which at the moment will continue until the end of March.
A statement read:
"In light of regional and international preventive measures dedicated to containing the spread of COVID-19, we have come to the decision to cancel the upcoming edition of Fashion Forward Dubai planned to take place on April 2 - 4, 2020.  This approach also follows the directive of Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing to suspend all events in the second half of March, as FFWD was scheduled to take place immediately afterward."
A new time slot for Fashion Forward is as yet unconfirmed.
"Details of our next event will be shared as they become available. As a platform committed to championing independent fashion talent from the Middle East and beyond, we will continue to support our creative community in as safe, innovative, and collaborative manner as possible in the meantime."
