When storm Friederike in Germany brought powerful winds, rains, and snowfall in some parts on Thursday, DUS Düsseldorf airport was open all the time.
A thrilling video recorded by a German plane spotter shows how aircrafts battled strong winds during landing at the airport with about 20 planes aborting the landing at the last minute.
One such stomach-churning landing shows a plane tilted sideways several times as winds blew up to 120 km per hour. The pilot of the small passenger aircraft successfully manoeuvred through the rough weather and managed to land safely.
The man who uploaded the video on YouTube writes it was rather spectacular for him to film the aircrafts as some planes doing a touch-and-go on the runway, unable to land. He further says that some pilots managed to do a great job and skilfully handled their aircrafts with bravely decided to land.
The video shows many aircrafts swinging from side to side as they try hard to make a smooth landing.
