Timothee Chalamet has taken his relationship with Kylie Jenner into the spotlight like never before, and he did it from the awards podium.

The Marty Supreme star, 30, shocked audiences at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, January 4, when he openly thanked his "partner" ( Jenner), 28, during his Best Actor acceptance speech, ending it with a heartfelt “I love you.”

“Lastly, I’ll just say, thank you to my partner of three years, thank you for our foundation,” Chalamet said as the camera panned to Jenner seated at a table with the film’s cast and crew. “I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Jenner was visibly emotional as she mouthed back, “I love you, too.”

A major awards moment for Timothée Chalamet

Chalamet won the Best Actor award for his role in Marty Supreme. His win marked his first major victory of the awards season and came against stiff competition, including Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another) and Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), bolstering his hopes for an Oscar.

Clearly overwhelmed by the moment, Chalamet opened his speech with rare humility.

“I’ve got a lot of people to thank and I don’t know if I’ll be up here again,” he said, admitting he was “more nervous than I thought I’d be.”

He also took a moment to praise his fellow nominees, calling them “an ultra-talented, hard-working group,” before returning his focus to the table where his director, co-stars and Jenner were seated.

Praise for director Josh Safdie and Marty Supreme

Chalamet closed out his speech by paying tribute to director Josh Safdie and the film’s unconventional storytelling.

“Josh, you made a story about a flawed man with a relatable dream, and you didn’t preach to the audience what was right or wrong,” he said. “Thank you for this dream.”

Marty Supreme, which tells the story of a self-centred American ping-pong prodigy, has been widely praised, and Chalamet’s performance has quickly emerged as one of the strongest of his career.
