Ranveer Singh’s next big move appears to be a strategic pause. As the actor enjoys a career-high phase back home with Dhurandhar's success, industry sources suggest that Ranveer has decided to push his involvement in Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s much-anticipated Don 3, choosing instead to recalibrate his slate.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Ranveer was initially expected to begin preparations for Don 3 soon after wrapping up his recent commitments. However, those plans have now been put on hold. “Right after the release of Dhurandhar, Ranveer was scheduled to start prep for Don 3. Given the current situation, the film has now been pushed,” an insider revealed to the outlet.

The decision reportedly stems from Ranveer's desire to avoid being boxed into similar roles back-to-back. Having firmly established himself in the action-gangster space, the actor is now keen to diversify his screen presence. According to the report, he is actively eyeing collaborations with filmmakers such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, while also fast-tracking projects that allow him to explore newer genres and emotional landscapes.

One such project is Pralay, a zombie-based film backed by Applause Entertainment and directed by Jai Mehta. The film tells a human survival story set against extraordinary circumstances, with Ranveer playing a man pushed to extremes to protect his family. With Don 3 pushed down the line, Ranveer is said to be personally involved in aligning schedules and dates to bring Pralay on floors sooner than originally planned.

Meanwhile, Don 3 remains very much in development. Kriti Sanon has already been locked in as the female lead, and the action thriller is expected to be mounted on a large scale, with extensive shoots planned across multiple European locations. While the project hasn’t been shelved, Ranveer’s decision means that the iconic franchise may have to wait.
