Salman Khan brought in his 45th birthday without a big party; and his girl friend (or ex) Katrina Kaif wasn't by his side either.

Kaif is believed to be in London recovering from the bout of illness she suffered while she was in India (jaundice and a cyst operation). She also wanted to be in London to bring in the New Year with her family. Before her departure she had expressed her excitement on meeting her sister’s little son with whom she planned to spend a lot of time.
But buzz is that Katrina Kaif is not in London. She’s secretly holidaying in New York. So why all the news about her trip to London and what all she plans to do there this New Year’s Eve? Well… because Katrina Kaif wants to keep her clandestine meetings with Ranbir Kapoor out of media’s glare, that’s why! Or may be she doesn’t want to rub salt onto Salman’s already bruised heart.

When a leading tabloid called up Katrina’s grandmother’s house to enquire about her health, her relative who picked up the phone maintained that she was in New York and not in London. When contacted Katrina laughs it off saying that she is very much in London, and her being in New York is a family joke as she has been continuously harassed by calls.
An insider confirms, “Ranbir Kapoor is in New York shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Anjana Anjani. The two obviously wanted to spend private time together in New York away from the media glare. Her trip seals the fact that Katrina and Ranbir are very much together. If they weren’t an item, she would definitely have been around for Salman’s 45th birthday. Even if they aren’t dating, they are the best of friends. Ranbir does not wish to get into any controversies back home so he prefers to keep his relationship under cover.
