He has enthralled cricket fans and statisticians alike for years together. She has done the same in Indian cinema. Now, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are making a compelling case for why you should visit Dubai, summer or winter.
A recent video of the couple promoting the must-visit spots in the Emirate, including its sun-kissed dunes, the Burj Al Arab and its adjoining beaches, and the souks of Old Dubai, has turned wildly popular on social media.
The ad opens at a desert resort, with Kohli challenging his wife to surprise him, given that she has known him for 10 years. Challenge accepted, the couple take on a whirlwind tour of the city and explore its heritage and cuisine, giving viewers a highlight of what to expect in Dubai.
The couple's chemistry and repartee in the video makes for a light-hearted watch.
They then shop for clothes and other articles.
As they play volleyball with one another, Sharma smashes the ball into Kohli's court, claiming victory. "Told you, I'm the better athlete," she quips.
The cricketer, in reply, says he is a better dancer between the two of them.
All along, the couple surprise each other, with Sharma presenting a plate of authentic channa bhatura, made just like in Delhi, while Kohli reciprocates, giving her a glass of cold coffee at the moment she craves one.
Channa Bhatura, also known as Chole Bhature, is one of the many dishes synonymous with the Indian capital. Kohli, who began his cricketing career in Delhi, has on previous occasions voiced his love for the dish.
The cricketer, considered one of the best batters in the game, holds the record for the maximum centuries scored in the one-day international format.
The video ends with Sharma asking her cricketer-husband how would the views look like in summer, to which Kohli responds, "There is only one way to find out."
Bengaluru-born Sharma, who made her film debut with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008 opposite Shah Rukh Khan, has starred in many blockbusters such as Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) and Sultan (2016). She formed the production company Clean Slate Filmz, which delivered critically acclaimed films and shows like NH10 and Paataal Lok.
Kohli and Sharma tied the knot in 2017. The couple have two kids: a girl named Vamika, and a boy named Akaay.
