Kat-John bond in New York
The news that Katrina and John have decided to bury the hatchet and become friends must have come as a huge shock to Salman Khan and Bipasha.

John is Salman's sworn enemy since the Rockstar concert many years ago. Due to a huge misunderstanding on that show Salman and John had stopped talking. Bipasha and Katrina, their respective girlfriends, do not like each other either. They gave the makers of Race a lot of problems as they did not want to come face to face, even during the promotions.
Salman was horrified when Katrina signed a film opposite John. He had a massive showdown with his girlfriend at a cafe in Bandra. It was only after she explained to him how important this film was for her career that he calmed down. After all, Yash Chopra called her personally to sign this film. John was only incidental. She assured Salman that she would not befriend him and only treat him as a co-star.

When Katrina and John began their shooting, the vibrations on the sets of Kabir Khan's New York were cold and uncomfortable. Katrina and John would not exchange a single word after the shot and showed their dislike openly. After five days of this cold atmosphere, Kabir and the film crew could not take it anymore. They explained to the two stars that it was becoming impossible to work with them under these circumstances and things had to change. Kabir asked them to clear their misunderstandings and try to become friends for the sake of the film.
Says an insider, “Katrina and John never actually had any problems with each other; they were avoiding each other because Katrina's boyfriend Salman had issues with John; and John's girlfriend Bipasha Basu had problems with Katrina. Both Salman and Bipasha have openly expressed their dislike for John and Katrina respectively. In an interview Bipasha had blatantly said, 'I get along with most actresses but there is a problem between Katrina and me. While shooting for Race, we didn't interact with each other at all!'
Salman who had earlier made his dislike for John very clear, was more brutal recently when asked his opinion on John's role in Dostana. Salman commented, 'there are a few things that aren't permissible by Indian culture and I respect Indian culture, values and traditions. I maybe a spoilt brat but I'd never stoop to that level.'”
One can only wonder how Salman and Bipasha would react to the new found friendship between their respective lovers. Sources from the film's set reveal, “Katrina and John have broken the ice between themselves and are now friendly. If you see the two together today, it doesn't feel like there was ever a problem between them.”
Both Katrina and John are known to be friendly individuals, but here's a word of caution for Katrina. Don't get too friendly with John or you might rub Bipasha the wrong way; she sure scared Vidya Balan for getting friendly with John when she barged onto the sets of Salaam-e-Ishq to have a showdown with her!
Katrina seems to have a mind of her own and seems least bothered about the dislikes and likes of her hot-tempered and possessive boyfriend. These days she has been bonding with all her co-actors irrespective of Salman's approval; Salman didn't approve of her friendship with Akshay Kumar but Katrina continued to work opposite him because she felt that it was the right career move for her. A source reveals, “Katrina has only one agenda at present - her career, and she will go to any lengths to make sure that she reaches the number one position!”
