Rumours of tension between Brooklyn Beckham and his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham, have circulated for years. But in January 2026, the eldest Beckham son publicly confirmed that the relationship had completely fractured, and laid out his version of events in a lengthy, explosive statement.
From wedding drama to public snubs and social media blocks, here’s a breakdown of how the Beckham family feud unfolded:
Early 2022: Wedding preparations spark tension

According to Brooklyn, cracks began forming long before he married actress Nicola Peltz in April 2022.
In his January 2026 statement, he alleged that David and Victoria attempted to “ruin” his relationship before the wedding and claimed the interference “hasn’t stopped.”
Brooklyn accused his parents of repeatedly pressuring and allegedly attempting to bribe him into signing away the rights to his name just weeks before the ceremony. He said the timing was intentional, claiming the deal would have taken effect once he was married.
“They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date,” he alleged in a statement shared on Instagram Stories, adding that his refusal affected a potential payout and permanently altered how his parents treated him.
He also claimed Victoria called him “evil” over seating arrangements at the wedding reception, after Brooklyn and Nicola chose to seat their grandmothers at the head table. Both sets of parents, he said, had equally placed tables nearby.
Brooklyn further confirmed long-standing reports of tension between Victoria and Nicola, alleging that his mother cancelled plans to design Nicola’s wedding dress at the last moment.
“My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design,” he claimed, forcing Nicola to urgently find another gown.
Brooklyn also alleged that some family members referred to Nicola as “not blood” and “not family” ahead of the wedding.
April 2022: The wedding day fallout
Brooklyn and Nicola married in an extravagant ceremony at the Peltz family estate in Palm Beach, Florida, attended by around 500 guests.
However, Brooklyn claimed the day was marred by a moment he says permanently damaged his relationship with his mother.
According to his account, singer Marc Anthony invited Brooklyn onto the dance floor for what was meant to be a pre-planned romantic first dance with Nicola. Instead, Brooklyn said Victoria was waiting to dance with him.
“She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone,” he alleged. “I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
People previously reported that Anthony called Victoria “the most beautiful woman in the room” before the dance, while an insider claimed Nicola ran out of the room in tears.
At the time, a source told the outlet that Nicola believed the moment was intentional, knowing the dance was meant for the newlyweds.
May 2025: David Beckham’s 50th birthday absence
Speculation about a rift reignited in May 2025 when Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent from David Beckham’s lavish 50th birthday celebration.
David and Victoria shared family photos from the event featuring their other children — Romeo, Cruz and Harper — along with Romeo and Cruz’s girlfriends.
Brooklyn later claimed that he and Nicola had flown to London specifically to spend time with David, but said his father refused to see them unless it was at the high-profile party.
“We waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him,” Brooklyn wrote, alleging that David declined all private attempts to meet.
Brooklyn also claimed David eventually agreed to see him only if Nicola did not attend.
He further alleged that when his parents later travelled to Los Angeles, they made no effort to see him or his wife.
May 2025: Claims Nicola Peltz was 'controlling' Brooklyn
Later that same month, reports emerged suggesting Brooklyn was being “controlled” by Nicola, with one Daily Mail source describing him as a “hostage,” according to a report in Page Six.
Brooklyn strongly denied the claims.
“The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards,” he wrote. “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”
He also revealed that he grew up with “overwhelming anxiety,” which he implied stemmed from his upbringing.
August 2025: Vow renewal without the Beckhams
Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their wedding vows in August 2025 during an intimate ceremony in Florida.
Nicola’s family attended, but none of the Beckhams were present.
Brooklyn later said the vow renewal was an attempt to reclaim joy from their wedding memories.
“We wanted to create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment,” he wrote.
He also alleged that Nicola had been “consistently disrespected” by his family and claimed Victoria would invite women from Brooklyn’s past into their lives in ways meant to make both him and his wife uncomfortable.
December 2025: Instagram blocks fuel speculation
In December 2025, Brooklyn blocked David, Victoria and his brother Cruz on Instagram.
After reports suggested the Beckhams had unfollowed Brooklyn before Christmas, Cruz publicly denied it.
“NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son,” he wrote, adding that they “woke up blocked… as did I.”
Brooklyn later claimed that his brothers had blocked him “out of nowhere” earlier that summer.
January 2026: Brooklyn breaks his silence
On January 19, 2026, Brooklyn publicly addressed the feud for the first time, stating he felt he had “no choice” but to speak out.
He accused his parents and their teams of controlling narratives about their family throughout his life through “performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships.”
Brooklyn said he was standing up for himself “for the first time” and made it clear reconciliation was not on the table.
“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” he wrote, alleging that since asserting himself, he has faced “endless attacks” from his parents, both privately and through the media.
“For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared,” he added, saying he now feels “peace and relief.”
An insider told Page Six there had been a “massive breakdown in trust,” claiming Brooklyn and Nicola had tried repeatedly to repair the relationship privately but ultimately felt they could no longer trust David and Victoria.
As of now, David and Victoria Beckham have not publicly responded to Brooklyn’s allegations.
