Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) has unveiled another major addition to its 2026 lineup, announcing Marvel star Simu Liu as a special guest at the region’s largest pop culture festival. Best known for portraying Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Liu will appear at MEFCC when it returns to Abu Dhabi from 24 to 26 April, 2026, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The Chinese-Canadian actor, writer and executive producer made history as Marvel’s first Asian lead superhero in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He is also widely recognised for his breakout role in the hit CBC sitcom Kim’s Convenience and his appearance in the global box-office phenomenon Barbie. Fans attending MEFCC 2026 will have the opportunity to meet Simu Liu in person, take photos and get autographs during the three-day event.

Liu joins an already exciting guest lineup that includes Christopher Judge, the man behind the iconic video game character Kratos, recently announced as MEFCC’s first English voice actor. The festival has also confirmed acclaimed Italian comic book artist Federico Vicentini, known for his work on Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine, Falcon & Winter Soldier and Imperial. Visitors can meet Vicentini at the popular Comic Creators Club, which brings together renowned illustrators, writers and emerging talents from around the world.

Completing the latest trio of announcements is American comic book artist Brett Breeding, who brings nearly five decades of experience working on iconic Marvel and DC titles including Superman, Spider-Man and Thor.

MEFCC 2026 is already witnessing massive demand, with Ultimate and Super VIP passes selling out within two days of release. Returning for its 14th edition, the event is expected to welcome over 46,000 fans, offering immersive zones such as the Gaming Arena, Bookworm Lounge, Tabletop Zone, Collectors Gallery and the brand-new Otaku District, celebrating modern Asian pop culture from anime to K-pop.
