According to the police, Abdul Rahman Taha drove into the desert to help a man whose vehicle got stuck in the sand. The man had had a health emergency.
Brigadier General Ahmed Haji Al Serkal, Director General of Police Operations, said Taha also assisted the rescue team that arrived at the scene soon after him.
Brig Al Serkal also praised the quick response of the paramedics and first responders.
