“The move will lead to realising many benefits, mainly providing comfort, security and safety for students and parents alike, reaching their schools on time, reducing pollution from vehicle exhausts, and reducing traffic jams, among other advantages,” Tariq Al Ghaith, Director of the agency’s Franchise and Monitoring Department , said.

“The agency constantly seeks to introduce regulations, laws and rules related to school buses in order to enhance joint efforts aimed at promoting security and safety requirements for both students and their parents, and to contribute to achieving the authority’s vision of ‘Safe and Smooth Transport for All’,” he said.

According to him, the number of students who use school buses in Dubai, whether those of public or private schools, has now gone up to nearly 132,000.

The number of licensed school bus drivers in Dubai is now over 5,600, who have all been trained by the Drivers Affairs Department at the agency. The number of licensed bus monitors is now 3,400.
