The Indian Association Sharjah (IAS) on Thursday honoured the Sharjah Indian School's academic toppers of grades 10 and 12 examination with cash awards, gold medal and tuition scholarships.
A ceremony, held at the association's community hall, was attended by Saeed Ali Hassan Al Najjar, Head of Examination, Sharjah Education Zone; P.T. Thomas, Member of Legislative Assembly, Kerala; Mr Punnuswamy, Consul at the Indian Consulate in Dubai; M.K. Madhavan, President of IAS; K.N.N. Pillai, principal of Sharjah Indian School; teachers, students and parents.
Mr Al Najjar presented the grade 12 topper Divya Nair with cash award of Dh2,000 and a gold medal for clinching the second position in the UAE and first among the girls in the science stream with 93.2 per cent marks. The other grade 12 toppers - Abhishek Ashok, Dagny Joseph and Chirag Bhandari - were also presented with cash awards of Dh2,000 each and gold medals.
Harsha Haridas and Nitin Bakshi were honoured with gold medals and 100 per cent waiver of tuition fees in grades 11 and 12 at the school for their excellent performance in the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) class 10 examination this year. In addition, 65 students who scored above 80 per cent marks in the grade 10 examination this year were presented merit certificates and 50 per cent waiver in tuition fees for grades 11 and 12 at the school. The school also honoured all the first rank holders from class 1 to 10.
