The Ministry of Education on Tuesday announced that the next academic term for public schools would resume on January 3 for all students, administrative staff and teaching staff.
Taking to Twitter, the ministry noted that all students would follow a distance learning model for the first two weeks. Further updates shall be issued depending on the development of the Covid-19 situation.
Additionally, for the shifts of administrative and technical staff, 50 per cent of the staff’s capacity will be allowed in schools. Staff members can then switch with the other 50 per cent, while maintaining all safety precautions.
Schoolkids across the country are currently on a three-week winter break, which started on December 13. For private schools in Dubai under the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), classes shall also resume on January 3.
The UAE academic year is being implemented according to the approved calendar of the Ministerial Development Council, with public and private schools reopening last August 30, as schools switched to different learning models due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This included the distance learning programme, in-person classes, and blended learning options.
Ahead of the reopening after the summer break this year, KHDA had released a 118-point circular titled, ‘Protocols for the Reopening of Private Schools in Dubai’ to keep the education community safe. Additionally, schools had to share their reopening models for the first term with parents after receiving clearance from education authorities. In-person classes had been suspended in March due to coronavirus.
