Dubai institute unveils Dh5 million student scholarship programmes

Dubai - Move aims to help and encourage students to finance their educational expenses

BITS Pilani has announced new merit scholarships worth Dh5 million for candidates enrolling in the institute’s various programmes for the academic year 2021-22.

The institute is the branch of Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, India. It is the largest institution exclusively offering engineering programmes in Dubai International Academic City, which is one of the largest education hubs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.


The scholarships are divided under various categories and apply to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Students, who are appearing for Grade 12 examination from various state, national and international boards, have an opportunity to avail scholarships ranging from 10 to 40 per cent for the bachelors’ degree programmes, which are based on the overall aggregate secured.


Candidates with BITSAT 2021 score of 200 and above are eligible for merit scholarships between 25 and 75 per cent for their first-year tuition fee, depending on their respective scores.

BITSAT is an online test for admissions to first degree programmes of BITS Pilani campuses in India.

Professor R. N. Saha, Director of BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, said, “We have designed the scholarships to ensure that 80 per cent of the students can avail of it at least for their first year of study.”

He added, “Even if a student is unable to score high in their board examination, they can still avail of a BITS Pilani Dubai Campus scholarship by achieving a good rank in the Pre-board International Scholarship Examination (PBISE)”

PBISE is an online examination, where all Grade 12 students can appear by logging ontowww.pbise.infrom their homes.

For the institute’s higher degree programmes, students who obtain 75 per cent marks or above in the aggregate of the qualifying examination can receive a merit scholarship.

“Our scholarships are not only limited to the tuition fees but also extend to hostel fee concessions. We have opened admissions for the September 2021 intakes, students can take advantage of this opportunity by securing their place and obtaining appropriate financial support,” said Professor Saha.

BITS Pilani Dubai Campus is also offering special concessions of up to 75 per cent off on tuition fee to meritorious Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Arab nationals enroling in the institute. Other categories of scholarships include special provisions for all physically challenged students as well as special grants to BITS Alumni, Siblings of Continuing students and Candidates from Collaborative Organisation /Companies.

BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus has received a 5-Star rating in the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) Higher Education Classification (HEC) 2019-20, based around the four core categories of teaching, research, internationalisation and employability.

Forbes Middle East has also awarded its Best Technology Programme award to the BITS Pilani Dubai Campus.

BITS Pilani is the top ranked private institute of India to find a place among the leading 200 Universities in QS Asia University Rankings 2021.
