You don't have to give up your favourite meat to do yoga. Anyone can practice yoga and reap its benefits. However, it's equally true that you could end up becoming a vegetarian and give up other habits if you practice the form regularly.
If this sounds confusing or reads like a contradictory statement, read further.
In general, yoga is an effortless process of self-transformation. You should be willing to learn and that's the only prerequisite. When you start practicing, you will observe your body changing slowly; you will start feeling more fresh and the vigour will return to the body. Your posture will improve and your sleeping pattern will change. You will also find that your extra weight can be managed easily.
These changes will be so evident that you would love to continue. Slowly from the body it will start influencing your breathing and mind. You will feel you are breathing slower and your mind is becoming calmer. You will start learning to let go and will be able to focus better. All these will happen effortlessly and naturally.
If you keep practicing regularly, there will come a time when you will stop craving, and that's when eating non-vegetarian food or having alcohol will not matter to you. You will be able to understand what's required and not required for the body and mind and slowly give up everything that is not essential.
It's a simple outcome and this phase is bound to happen as your progress with yoga.
Any habit or addiction can be managed through regular practice of yoga because the root cause of all addiction is craving. -
