Since its creation 48 years ago, the UAE has forged a a clear path in foreign policy despite difficult circumstances and several attempts by various actors to destabilise the Middle East.
Thanks to its growing clout in the region, the UAE today plays a leading role politically, economically, and socially on the world stage.
The UAE's contributions, for example, have not been limited to offering financial and development aid to needy countries but also included participation in peacekeeping operations to maintain international peace, especially in Arab and Muslim countries.
In 2018 alone, the UAE distributed over Dh28.5 billion in international aid to 42 countries globally, in support of peace, justice, economic growth, and elimination of poverty.
However, other geopolitical developments driven by selfish and boundless thirst for the region's wealth over the past ten years to the the so-called 'Arab Spring that destabilised the Middle East.
From the very beginning, the UAE has been in favour of Arabs deciding their own destiny. However, extremist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood oppose that idea and are keen to impose their will on people and want to steal Arab wealth. They are doing great disservice to the people in the guise of political Islam.
This organisation has been the sinister driving force many terrorist groups, including Daesh and Al Nusra Front that have tried to destabilise Gulf countries through covert operations. They have been unsuccessful in their efforts at sowing discord and now remain underground.
The Brotherhood received a fatal blow in Egypt in a political experiment in which they were thrown out by the people. They now spare no effort to undermine Arab unity by supporting terrorist operations, and by propping up militias.
This has been going on at a time when the UAE was doing its best to spread the values of tolerance and coexistence among all communities living on its land. The UAE is aware of the Brotherhood's malicious agenda, and has managed to expose their true nature. They consider the UAE as their arch-foe and are trying hard to demonise the UAE government and spread rumours and fake news about it.
Despite all these malicious attempts, the UAE has emerged stronger and tougher. The emirates sees its future in human development, and is pressing ahead with this approach. It is building a modern country with impressive achievements, following the footsteps of the country's founding fathers. The evidence is for the world to see.
