I feel absolutely healthy and happy about desserts and do not understand why one should feel guilty while enjoying a chef's artistic and delicious creations. In Dubai, the dessert paradise city, I am spoiled for choice, but, of course, there are a few favourites.
How can one not talk about the 70° of Happiness, the amazing chocolate cake that comes with vanilla ice cream and caramelised walnuts? And there is more . the delicious ingredients get melted in the 70 degrees chocolate topping. Ask for it the next time you visit Gran Caffe at Dubai Mall.
Have you ever tried Dinner in the Sky at Skydive? Well, the Chocolate Fudge Cake (chocolate dome with sticky date and toffee pudding served with hot chocolate and nitrogen ice cream) is something to die for. But you need to go 50 meters above the ground to have it. I'm sure the taste was flavoured by my sky challenge!
Signature mocktails may not exactly be a dessert, but these special recipes are my favourite. And there is a wide variety to choose from at Beastro restaurant, Barsha Heights. Try their watermelon and rosemary, and almonds, pumpkin and chia seeds drinks deliciously laced with ice-cream!
Well, the jar of the fresh raspberry jam found in the next iconic building-to-be in Dubai - Skyviews Address Hotel - is something to die for. Every time I have it, I go back in time to the happy, carefree summer times spent at my grandma's in the South of France. Well, this raspberry jam will give you a taste of the South of France.
Eclarium in Citywalk has the most fabulous selection of eclaires - all handmade, with the best ingredients. I love the perfectly baked choux. These sumptuous eclairs taste like they are filled with happiness and glazed with sunshine.

When a dessert craving comes knocking, life slows down until you finally dig into that sweet treat. It could be the wanting to try a new trend, an indulgence, or even the simple need to calm your soul. From the most Instagrammable desserts at gorgeous locations to desserts served at blink and miss hole-in-the-wall joints, we're spoiled for choice in Dubai.
In keeping with Dubai's aesthetics, desserts that fuse the traditional with the contemporary have been steadily making their way into everyone's top lists, and they are not to be missed. From Nutella Chebab to Lotus Luqaimat, people can't seem to have enough of these sinful treats. Our favourite, though, is the Karak Tea Softy from Mealtop in La Mer, offering a unique Emirati twist to the conventional softy.
When it comes to Instagrammable desserts, the "Hit Me" Chocolate Cake from Catch Dubai is the answer. An over-the-top four-tier dessert with liquid Klondike bars, roasted white chocolate ice cream, and a gooey brownie - just look it up and you'll see why we love it!
A timeless dessert that makes a comeback often are mini pancakes. If you're like us, you'll have a flavour for every mood - from the classic Nutella to in vogue Pistachio. We still think Holland House in City Walk, Al Safa serves the best mini pancakes in Dubai.
Fresh Baklava with ice cream is finally getting the glory it deserves. We absolutely love the Baklava with ice cream served at Gunaydin, Souq Al Bahar.
Whatever your preference, though, we suggest you live by wise words from Ernestine Ulmer: Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first!
