Dubai man cleared of threatening to kill employer

Dubai - The employer alleged that the man's wife used inappropriate language in WhatsApp messages.

A man has been cleared by the Dubai Court of First Instance of the charge of threatening to kill his employer and his family.
The court referred the defendant's wife - a fugitive - to the Court of Misdemeanors on the charge of insulting the complainant in WhatsApp messages.
The court earlier heard how the husband- a 36-year-old Asian construction worker- issued the criminal threats against his former employer and his family demanding him to drop the absconding case he had levelled against him.
The case dates back to February and a complaint was lodged at Rashidiya police station. The man was detained after the complaint.
The complainant, a-40-year-old Asian businessman, told the prosecutor that about six months prior to the complaint, he had filed an absconding report against the defendant as the latter did not come to work and was working for other people.
"After that, I kept receiving phone calls, the last of which was in February. The accused was threatening to kill me and my family unless I dropped the charges against him."
The businessman added that the defendant's wife also threatened to kill him in messages she sent him on WhatsApp. "She used inappropriate language with me."
Copies of those messages were enclosed to the case file as part of the public prosecution evidence.
