A worker accused of intentionally touching two women on a bus was sentenced on Monday to 3 months in jail to be followed by deportation.
According to prosecution records, the 28-year-old Bangladeshi man groped one woman and inappropriately touched another after boarding a bus in Al Jafliyah on August 2
In the Court of First Instance, he earlier denied the charges claiming it happened by mistake with just one woman.
One of the two women, a 37-year-old Filipina clerk, said the first time the accused touched her was at the bus stop.
"It was around 6:45 pm while waiting at Al Jafliyah bus stop. I felt him touching me so I stared at him angrily without talking to him. He touched me again after boarding the bus".
The complainant heard shortly later another woman yelling at the same man and pushing him after he touched her.
"I saw him then getting down on his knees and saying he was sorry," the first woman said.
When the bus reached a stop in Al Satwa, a Roads and Transport Authority employee came and asked the man for his ID. The latter gave it to him before disappearing
An Egyptian supervisor said he brought the accused to his office. But right after he was confronted with what the women were claiming the defendant ran away
But he was apprehended by the police later.
During the interrogation, he admitted he touched both women, claiming it was accidental.
He may appeal the ruling within 15 days
