The incident happened shortly after jury selection for the hush-money trial was completed
According to prosecution records, the boy, an Egyptian, had just finished prayers, walked out of the mosque and was waiting for his father to take him home.
The boy told the prosecutor that on the day of the incident in November last year he went to a Quran memorisation session in Hatta at a mosque near his place.
The defendant came and called him as he was waiting alone outside the mosque. When he got close he took the boy to a nearby park. There he allegedly hugged and made the boy touch him after exposing himself.
The boy went back to where he was and sat on stairs.
The defendant came again and exposed himself. The boy told his father shortly later and he went looking for the defendant. The boy’s father, a 36-year-old teacher, said that his son told him that the accused lured him to a park where he molested him.
The father kept looking for the accused at the mosque for a week. When he saw the accused he followed him to a shop and informed the police.
