Woman’s body found near newborn baby

The body of a woman was found near a health centre in Ajman last Friday, lying beside her newborn baby, police have said.

The police have arrested four Bangladeshi nationals, two women and two men, in this regard, and investigations surrounding the mysterious death are going on, said Lt-Col Abdullah bin Saif Al Matroushi, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Ajman Police.

“After the police were notified, an ambulance and CID officials rushed to the scene,” he said. “The baby was found to be alive and was taken to the Shaikh Khalifa Hospital while the body of the woman was transferred to the forensic laboratory.”

Police investigations revealed that the four people who knew about the incident were living in Abu Dhabi. With the cooperation of the Abu Dhabi Police, they were arrested and brought to Ajman. The two women suspects were identified as B.A.Q. and A.A., while the men were identified as A.A.N. and A.L.S..

Investigations also revealed that the deceased, identified as R.B.S., had entered the country to work as a maid but had run away from her sponsor. The two men assisted her get a part-time job as a maid. During this time, she got into an illicit relationship resulting in pregnancy. The two women with whom she was staying, offered to help her deliver her child at their accommodation.

However, there were complications and she started bleeding profusely. The women carried her to a private clinic in Dubai and when they were returning to Ajman she died in the car. The women allegedly abandoned her, along with her baby, near a health centre and fled to Abu Dhabi. The Ajman Police have referred the case to the prosecution.
