A Russian woman tourist died and five others, including three Pakistanis, received moderate to serious injuries after their LandCruiser crashed into a sandy mount and rolled over several times on the Al Nad-Sharjah road on Wednesday night.

According to the police, the accident occurred when the 33-year-old Pakistani driver of a tourism company lost control over the LandCruiser in which he was transporting sightseers as he was driving at a high speed and the 4WD hit a sandy mount and overturned several times causing the death of the Russian woman and serious injuries to two other compatriot women and three Pakistanis, including the driver.

Colonel Saif Al Zerri, director of the Remote Area police station, urged motorists to follow the speed limits in the region to avoid such fatal accidents.
