He has been charged with consuming alcohol, threatening his mother and endangering her life.

The incident happened in Manaseer area on February 28. He was drunk and furious because the mother refused to give him her car key and money. The Operations Room of the Abu Dhabi Police received a call in the evening reporting that a woman had fallen from the window of a flat.

The police who rushed to the scene found the woman with injuries and fractures. She was shifted to a hospital.

The woman told the police that she was at home and her son attacked her in a drunken state because she refused to give him her car key and money.

She tried to escape to her room, but he broke open the door and barged in. Frightened, she rushed to the window and jumped out. She sustained several fractures.

During the prosecution interrogation, the suspect confessed that he consumed alcohol, threatened his mother with a knife and damaged a door of their flat.

He, however, denied that he wanted to kill his mother and said that he was just angry as he was going through a bad time and was depressed.

The forensic lab test showed presence of alcohol in his blood.

The Public Prosecution is seeking tough punishment for the suspect since he had violated UAE’s customs and values by not respecting his parents, besides endangering his mother’s life.
