He also requested the court to amend the charge of premeditated murder to manslaughter.
The Abu Dhabi Appeal Court upheld an earlier ruling by a lower court which found the Filipina woman guilty of unintentionally killing her Pakistani husband but cut on the jail sentence after she pleaded for lenience.
She was also ordered to pay blood money or diya of Dh200,000 to the victim's parents.
Official court documents stated that the woman checked the man's phone while he was asleep and went through his Whatsapp messages.
She came across love messages the man exchanged with another woman and also pictures f her.
The Filipina woman allegedly kept quiet. And the following day on July 14, 2015-the day of the incident after she returned from work and preparing dinner, the woman confronted her husband while shouting and accusing him of cheating her with another woman. She also told him that she had evidence to support her claims.
The man however told her that the woman he was exchanged messages with was his second wife and that he also had two children with her.
"The couple engaged into a heated argument. The angry wife then rushed to the kitchen and picked up a knife to threaten the man," said prosecutors.
"The woman also showed the knife to her husband."
And during a scuffle between her and the husband as the man tried to remove the knife from her, the woman accidentally stabbed him in the chest.
"The man bled so heavily which caused his death," said prosecutors.
A medical report confirmed that the Pakistani man died as a result of the knife stab.
Prosecutors had charged the woman with premeditated murder of her husband but the woman denied the charge. She told court that she accidentally stabbed him with a knife but didn't mean to hurt or kill him.
Her defense lawyer also urged that his client accidentally attacked her husband but didn't intent to kill him.
He also requested court to amend the charge of premeditated murder to manslaughter.
The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance had earlier sentenced the woman to two years in jail after she was found guilty of accidentally causing death of her husband but woman challenged the sentence to the appeal court requesting for a lighter sentence.?
The husband's blood relatives had waived their rights to retribution and pardoned the woman in return for blood money.
The woman, who has already served her jail sentence as she has been in prison since 2015, would be deported after handing over the blood relative's diya to court.
