The Dubai Police have arrested a gang of five Asians who stole garments worth Dh6 million from a warehouse in Al Rashidiya.
Dubai Police officials managed to recover the stolen goods, which were being hidden in another emirate before being shipped to an Asian country.
Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, praised the police officials for quickly apprehending the gang.
Giving details of the case, Major Adil Al Jawaker, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, said that under the instruction of Major-General Al Mansouri, the police issued a notice to all UAE entities to prevent the shipment of the goods. Within a few hours, police managed to determine the identity of the criminals and arrested four of them.
The police later found a fifth suspect who planned the theft.
Major Al Jawaker said the suspects managed to pull off the heist because there was no guard on duty at the warehouse, which has no CCTV cameras and was not locked properly.
