An Indian woman and her father-in-law were killed and her husband, children and brother-in-law were injured when their car hit a vegetable pickup van in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Khamarunnisa and Ismail Mohammed Rasheed, according to the Indian Association Ras Al Khaimah.
The association’s president S. A. Saleem said the 40-year-old woman was the sister of Varkala Kahar, a member of the legislative assembly in the south Indian state of Kerala. Her 70-year-old father-in-law had come to the UAE to visit his two sons living in Abu Dhabi. “They were on the way to visit their relatives in Ras Al Khaimah when the accident took place,” Saleem said.
According to him, both the victims were declared brought dead at the Saqr Hospital, where Khamaruinnsa’s husband, two children — 20-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son — and brother-in-law have been admitted.
The Ras Al Khaimah police, which is investigating the case, could not be reached for comments.
