Two held for setting cars on fire at random in Ajman

The suspects, who have criminal records, reportedly confessed to the police that they set four cars on fire.

Ajman — The Ajman Police have arrested two Emiratis for allegedly setting cars on fire in different areas of the emirate. The seemingly random arson acts had created panic among Ajman residents, who feared they would be the suspects’ next target.

According to Brigadier Shaikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, on receiving many complaints from residents about their cars being set on fire, a team of officers was formed to investigate the case.

The officers identified and arrested the suspects, who are believed to have set cars “that came in their way” randomly.  The suspects, who have criminal records, reportedly confessed to the police that they set four cars on fire.

The police are still investigating the motive behind the crime. -afkarali@khaleejtimes.com
