The Emirati sentenced to death is identified as W.A. while the Iranian, H.A., has been given the capital punishment in absentia.

Two other accomplices, S.M. and A.A., were sentenced to 10 years each in jail and fined Dh20,000 each. Another gang member M.A. has been given four years in prison.

The case goes back to the end of last year when the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Sharjah Police received a tip-off that a gang of five members had planned to bring into the country a quantity of narcotics for peddling over the Dibba Al Hisn land border check point. They were arrested with 18kg of hashish and 20,000 tramadol tablets.
