The Sharjah Police arrested two Pakistanis on Sunday for allegedly offering cheap international phone calls illegally using special devices and techniques, breaching the telecommunication law in the UAE.
The suspects were offering people the service of making cheap phone calls to India, Bangladesh and Pakistan and were charging a dirham for 10 minutes. The police received a tipoff about the activities of the gang and formed a special team of Criminal Investigation Department officers to arrest the suspects red-handed.
The duo was arrested from their residence in Sharjah Industrial Area from where they were running the cheap phone calls racket. They confessed to indulging in the illegal activity and will be referred to the public prosecution.
