Trio tries to sell tramadol pills to undercover police officer

DUBAI - Three Egyptian residents were charged on Tuesday with trying to sell tramadol pills to an undercover police officer.

According to prosecution records, two of the defendants, 30 and 24, met the undercover police officer in his car in Muraqqabat. They allegedly tried to sell him a big quantity of tramadol pills for Dh10,000. A Dubai Police Anti-Narcotics officer told the prosecutor that they acted on a tip-off in September last year when they knew that the defendants possessed huge quantity of tramadol pills which theywere about to sell.

As many as 2,071 Tramadol pills were seized from them when the officers raided their place in Muraqqabat.

They all faced narcotics trafficking charge while the 24-year-old defendant was charged with using and possessing of tramadol and facilitating its use to the third accused, 31. The latter faced also the charge of using narcotics.

The officer quoted the 24-year-old accused as saying during the police interrogations that he was poor and wanted to earn his living by selling tramadol, claiming it was the first time he ever tried to sell it.
