Three Asians have been charged in the Sharjah Criminal Court with murder attempt and forcible theft after they stabbed another Asian on his back and robbed him of Dh10,000.

The court adjourned the hearing to April 11.

The victim, who survived the attack and is a partner of a company, told Khaleej Times that he went to a money exchange company and withdrew cash. After that, he had dinner at a nearby restaurant and headed for his home.

As he reached a dark parking lot, five men, who were apparently monitoring his movements, pounced on him and stabbed him on his back and left hand. They snatched away Dh10,000 from him. The man said a passer-by called the police and an ambulance arrived immediately, taking him to the hospital.

The police launched an investigation and arrested the first suspect. They later trapped the other suspects as well. The victim said he was able to identify the accused after they were taken into police custody.

The victim said the brother of the first suspect offered him Dh10,000 to drop the case. When he refused, the man threatened to kill him and bury his body in the desert. The victim has now lodged a complaint against the brother at the Gharb police station, furnishing to the police all the recordings of the phone conversations he had with the man.
