A 46-year-old Indian man died on spot and another person seriously injured in a run over accident in Sharjah on Sunday.
The deceased and his companion were crossing the Al Ettihad Road road when a speedy car hit them. Sharjah Police arrested the driver of the car soon after the tragic incident.
The Sharjah Police control room received a call in the morning about the accident and a team of police arrived at the scene where they found the man already dead.
The police ambulance, traffic experts and patrols shifted the body to the morgue of Al Kuwaiti Hospital and rushed the injured 39-year-old for emergency medical care. The seriously injured man is fighting for his life.
Separately, a Japanese man was killed on Saturday, while he was crossing the road in Sharjah Free Zone in Al Hamriay area.
The Sharjah Police said the unidentified driver hit the deceased and fled the scene. The Sharjah Police have launched an intensified search for the driver.
Meanwhile, the residents of Sharjah urged the authorities to have more pedestrian crossings in key roads and areas to minimise the number of accidents.
