Settled court cases up by 18%

As many as 148,795 court cases were handled by Abu Dhabi courts in 2012, jumping 18 per cent compared to the cases that were looked into in 2011.

The Abu Dhabi courts in 2011 had considered and passed down rulings in a total of 126,454 cases.

The cases included those that went to criminal, civil, commercial and labour courts, in addition to the personal status court.

All foregoing cases were handled either by the Court of First Instance, Appeals Court or Court of Cassation.

In a news release made by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, it stated about 141,384 lawsuits were filed last year with a 16 per cent increase compared to those filed in 2011, which had seen 122,264 cases.

The department said in a statement that it was working hard and striving towards an ambitious strategy to attain the highest rate of settlement of cases, believing that fast justice is an integral part of the fulfillment of justice, taking into account the priority is always reserved for quality of rulings.
