The victim in his twenties, identified as R.A.Y, was living in a flat in Al Nabaa area along with as many as 35 people sharing the apartment. All of them, who are suspected to have been breaching the residency law, disappeared right after the murder occurred.

After the forensic lab had examined the crime scene, the Criminal Investigation Department officials managed to identify the suspects, A.A. and L.S.R., roommates of the victim who disappeared with the other flat occupants. The police located the suspects by keeping a close eye on the places often visited by them and arrested them. According to police sources, the suspects were staying in the country violating the residence law. They confessed to committing the murder jointly.

Earlier, the Sharjah Police received a phone call reporting that a decayed body found from a flat in Al Nabaa neighbourhood in Sharjah. The police found the corpse in an apartment in the fourth floor with its door wide open and stinking smell was emanating from it. The Public Prosecution ordered to shift the body to the forensic laboratory.

Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak Al Dokhan, Deputy Chief Commander of the Sharjah Police, said that such a crime reflects the social conditions of some categories of expatriates.

The bad hygienic state of the flat which was overcrowded requires holding to account the persons who sublease flats to those illegals, Brig. Al Dokhan said, urging the public to report illegal immigrants and violators of residency law and not to accommodate or employ them.
