Upholding the lower court’s verdict, the Fujairah Court of Appeal, on Tuesday slapped a fine of Dh1,000 on a female university professor for using indecent language with a girl student.
The incident, according to court records, dated to November 1 when a girl student of a university in Fujairah lodged a complaint against her professor.
The student said while she was attending a lecture, she requested her professor to explain the subject in a certain manner when the professor replied rudely.
Investigations were conducted and the professor was summoned. The professor denied the charges and the case was referred to the public prosecution which convicted the accused.
The public prosecution ordered sending the file of the case to the Fujairah Court of first instance, which found her guilty and ordered her to pay a fine of Dh1,000. -salah@khaleejtimes.com
