Ajman — A massive fire broke out on Thursday morning in a plastic factory located in Ajman New Industrial area, destroying all its contents. Although no causalities were reported, the fire destroyed two tanks full of diesel used in the plastic manufacturing factory as well as two other cars parked on the premises of the factory.

Col Nasser Rashid Al Zari, spokesperson of Ajman Civil Defence department, said on being alerted about the incident — at 10am — the operation room immediately dispatched a team of ambulance and firefighters.

The team managed to douse the fire and quickly brought the blaze under control using fire extinguishing foam. They also cordoned off the area and prevented the blaze from spreading to neighbouring sites.

Forensic experts of the Ajman Police are examining the site to find out the exact cause of the fire.

Col Al Zari urged organisations to maintain their firefighting equipment periodically and ensure proper insulation of electricity cables which most of the time cause fire accidents.
