Dubai - A 50-year-old cleaner, who allegedly sneaked into women’s washroom and secretly watched a woman as she used the facility, has been charged with breaching a woman’s modesty in the Court of First Instance.
The incident happened on November 17 last year, when the Bangladeshi cleaner was allegedly caught watching a woman in the facility of her workplace. The cleaner is also facing the offence of entering a women’s only place.
The 31-year-old Egyptian woman, who works as an architect, said the restroom had two cubicles separated by a wall. “I was washing my hands when I noticed someone looking at me from beneath the other cubicle’s door. I screamed as I saw the defendant’s face.”
She screamed at him to leave, but he stood still. She hurried outside and reported him to the security guards. As she checked the CCTV footage with the guards, she saw that the accused had followed all the women employees to the restroom on that day.
A police officer told the prosecution that the incident was reported from a building in Business Bay.
The cleaner reportedly admitted in the investigation that he sat on his knees and watched the woman from the other cubicle. -mary@khaleejtimes.com
